On a 1995-era double door, the failure pattern is usually consistent: one spring goes first while the second is still holding, so the door tries to lift unevenly, or worse, drops hard on one side when you hit the opener button. You might notice the door binding partway up, the opener straining and clicking off, or a visible gap where one spring's coil has separated. Steel panels from this build era also dent and rust at the bottom section first, especially where irrigation or sprinkler overspray hits the bottom few inches over the years - that's a cosmetic issue until the rust works into the hinge points, at which point it's a hardware problem too. If your door is original to a house built around the mid-90s, you're at the point where the springs have likely cycled tens of thousands of times and are due, even if nothing's visibly broken yet. New installation makes more sense than another spring swap once the track, jambs, and opener are all original-age together.
